Recap: Hendricks - Olson Tower Loop

Solo ride. 31.5 miles. 2700 feet of climbing. Parked in Hendricks at the Blackwater Canyon trailhead. The trailhead has plenty of parking and a shelter onsite. The 8.2 mile climb (3/4 paved) from Hendricks to the Olson Tower is 2100 feet of elevation gain and tops out at 3600+ feet. Olson Tower cab was open and swaying in the wind when I ascended. Cross-fit training for a nice view and a slow and deliberate descent. I stopped at a stream crossing for pepperoni roll lunch (when in Rome) with a soundtrack. The Canyon Rim Road was dry with lots of rocky sections and navigable puddles. New washed out section that was still ridable. I rode up the trail past Thomas and then turned around to head back down the Blackwater Canyon Trail for an 11 mile downhill. The trail was dry and fast. Some headwind but sunny for most of the day. Temps in low 50’s to start and ended in low 70’s.
