Frequently Asked Questions

We get these questions a lot. We hope these answers help in your quest to find gravel goodness.
Drum roll please! The most asked questions are...

  1. I live in the Cincinnati (area), including northern Kentucky and I want to ride gravel. Are there any gravel routes or roads in the Cincinnati area?
Unfortunately there are NO GRAVEL ROUTES in the Cincinnati area. The closest gravel is Indiana, Scioto Trail SP or Shawnee area.

    1. The same goes for Columbus and Cleveland. There are no gravel routes close to the city centers in major metros. Unless you are living in a small city there will be a drive to a route.

  2. I live in the Toledo (area) and I want to ride gravel. Are there any gravel routes or roads near me?
The closest gravel roads and routes would be in Michigan.

  3. Is Ohio flat?
Yes and no. Gravel routes are located on the eastern half of the state in the Allegheny Plateau. Our rule of thumb is to expect 100 feet of climbing per mile of riding on the majority of our routes. The western half of the state is mostly flat but there is little to no gravel riding available.

  4. I am new to gravel riding. Are there beginner friendly routes in Ohio?
Yes, check out our Beginner Routes page for beginner friendly options.

  5. I see a lot of routes on the website. Is there one location to see them all?
Yes! Join our Ride with GPS Club Account powered by Paradise Garage for FREE access to all of our routes. Or click here to check out the Ohio Overview Map.

  6. How do I navigate Ohio Gravel Grinder routes if I don't have a GPS unit?
By joining the Ride with GPS Club Account powered by Paradise Garage you can use the paid feature of turn-by-turn voice navigation on all club routes for FREE. If you don’t already have it, download and install the free Ride with GPS mobile app for iPhone or Android. In addition, you may navigate routes in areas that don’t have cellular network coverage. Prepare for these routes by first downloading the route and map info onto your iPhone or Android device. Join the club account here.

  7. How do I get my gravel event on your site?
Use our event form to let us know the details and we will add it as quickly as possible. This is a volunteer operated website so please have some patience with us.

  8. Why can’t I copy an Ohio Gravel Grinders route into my own personal library?
After discussing this topic extensively with the Ride with GPS crew we decided to lock down our library. A major and ongoing concern is overwhelming the Ride with GPS system with duplicate routes. Almost 100% of our routes have been vetted so you can expect to find a route that traverses public access roads without any issues. Pinning Ohio Gravel Grinder routes in the Ride with GPS app unlocks paid features (navigation, offline maps, & printable PDFs) for everyone.

  9. How do I report issues with a route?
We have a handy-dandy form for reporting route issues!

  10. Can I have a route added?
Yes. We have a Ride With GPS Club Account powered by Paradise Garage. Join the group by clicking here and then send us a message. We will take care of copying the route to the Club Account and adding it to the site unless you want to learn how to use Squarespace. Use our handy-dandy form to contact us.

  11. I see people with the Ohio Gravel Grinders stickers and t-shirts. Are they available for purchase?
Yes! See the merchandise page for more information. We have partnered with Paradise Garage for shirt sales. They will mail them to anywhere in the US.

  12. Can I support the site?
