Woodbury So'long Summer

It’s been quite a while since i wandered the wild open gravel alone, it just happened today with a specific where and when in mind, that i enjoyed Woodbury and some amazing segments solo today.

There is an appealing flexibility to soloing, though i find myself thinking about rerouting with every whim and unknown road i pass by; generally i question the way less when among others (there’s a warning to individual consciousness in that point). There is also, at least a perception of, safety with others on the ride together, and while i wouldn’t assert anxiety as a primary player in my psyche; we do have some familiarity, so, mace and my special backup help mute that voice.

Besides, i like people, and riding together is typically a good way to remember and share this fact.

I’ve ridden this route a few times, most recently with a friend who is off the bike with some medical downtime; my friend, i hope the good memory and energy i felt today was also to you a boost somehow. Not only does it have those lovely, and super isolated feeling, miles through Woodbury, but there is also Township Road 394 (in Salem Township - at about 30 miles into the route) - this one mile of gravel riding perfection represents all that i love most about being on my bike!

Let’s go again soon…today summer made a return, but soon we’ll have to say so long.

photo notes: 4th of the top row is looking back at the Twp Rd 394, while 3rd on the top row is about the bottom of Twp Rd 394. Last of the bottom row, look close, the cows were feeling the heat too…
