Manville IN Gravel

Jim Katenkamp’s route notes: After completing the 59 mile route, I made one that is not as difficult in reverse. This one has a longer stretch on St. Rt. 129 but still some nice roads. You still have the same creek crossings on E Prong Rd/Indian Kentucky Creek. See below for stream crossing notes.

Jim’s route notes: Here is a route I did on March 26, 2020. This is a difficult route with a couple of nasty climbs plus a hard downhill (yes, downhill) at the end of the ride. I was say it has about 35% gravel but some very nice roads through the woods. Also, Cole Rd. is very isolated and super nice.

Note: Do not do this route after a hard rain. In the pictures you will see the E Prong Rd/Indian Kentucky Creek crossing. Yes, it was a wet Spring, but I never thought it would be this bad. Additionally, I wish there were a way to avoid St. Rt. 129 but that is not the case.

Rest/Food Stops: There is nothing out here. On the way to the start I stopped at the corner of Caledonia and St. Rt. 129 mile 22.5 & 43.8. I placed a cooler with food and drinks under a towel behind the boxes that I believe are telephone.
