The Ranger VT

  • 1 Fairgrounds Lane Tunbridge, VT, 05077 United States (map)

The Ranger is a mass-start ride where participants looking to compete can do so in a gravel enduro format. Think of a gravel enduro as a “race within a ride” where the only race times that are tracked come on a series of timed segments (also called stages). Finishing times aren’t based on overall ride time but on each rider’s cumulative time from these several segments.

Segments begin with signage communicating approximate distance and end with another sign to let you know that you can relax and resume soaking up the scenery. Segments range from technical Class IV (variable rocks, roots, and mud) to smooth packed dirt.

Awards will be given to the top three riders in the male, female and gender-diverse categories. Riders in 42- and 62-mile distances will be scored together.

The Ranger’s founding purpose sought to promote sustainable and vibrant community development through land conservation and providing outdoor recreation opportunities for future generations. Through partnerships, including with the nonprofits Alliance for Vermont Communities, Vermont Adaptive and Little Bellas and community resources including Royalton Radio, Tunbridge Recreation and Royalton Rescue, The Ranger has donated more than $30,000 to projects that meet the event’s mission.

The organizers of The Ranger seek to continue this philosophy, while focusing charitable giving on three specific values: stewardship for rural and agricultural land; access to outdoor recreation; and sustaining small communities.

Through working with the communities of Tunbridge, Royalton, Strafford and Sharon, commonly referred to as the Four Town Region, The Ranger will identify urgent and long term needs within the region on an annual basis and target donations accordingly to areas that align with the event’s charitable giving values.
