9th Annual Great Thaw Ride

  • Stewart Lake Trail Head, 487 Ohio 372 Chillicothe, OH, 45601 United States (map)

With support from

It's time for the NINTH Annual Great Thaw ride at Scioto Trails.

For 2024 we have rented the Ross Shelter for the day for people to hang out. Hopefully a tree wont destroy it the night before like last year rendering it useless to us.

The shelter is located at Stoney Creek Rd/372, Stewart Lake Trail Head, 487 OH-372, Chillicothe, OH 45601. Head down the hill past the fire tower toward the campground and the shelter is at the bottom of the hill on the right.

Additional parking: If Ross Shelter parking lot is full please use lots on the hillside above the shelter or at the fire tower and ride to the shelter. Other parking is available at the overlook and on Lake Drive near Caldwell Lake and the campground.

Parking is available at a number of lots in Scioto Trail SP.

There are several route options in Scioto Trail SP (see below for two options) More routes are available in the Ride with GPS Club Account powered by Paradise Garage. Join the Ohio Gravel Grinders Ride with GPS Club at this link for access to 400+ regional gravel routes with advanced navigation features thanks to the support of Paradise Garage and OGG group members. Check out this page for Scioto Trail SP routes on our website.

Route: We recommend the Scioto TSP 28 which cuts out the pavement loop and offers an out and back at mile 11.6. We continue to have a persistent issue with dogs at the corner of Wilson Run and Back Hollow.

Looking for a shorter route? Check out the 20 mile route below.
