Turbo Gravel IV

From the Desk of Joy Machines Racing:

Last year Joy Machines Racing traveled to Stillwater Ok. to participate in the Midsouth gravel event. It was stunning weather until race day where the course turned into absolute red mud soup. Brutal as it was, good times were had and friendships were cemented in caked on dirt. Unfortunately shortly after covid hit and well...you know the rest. However, from our lockdown days of 2020 came Turbo Gravel TT. A solo adventure filled riding experience packed with mail out prizes, benefiting from the positive capabilities of technology. We’d like to think we had some fun.

Anyways... Midsouth gravel offered up the incredibly social distanced Midsouth this year and though we’re not officially on the participating score card, Joy Machines Racing would like to offer up Turbo Gravel IV - a timed event using the Ohio Gravel Grinders route... the Montville Mudder. A nod to some of the gnarly memories of Mid South. Rules are similar to before but with some tweaks.

  1.  Join the Turbo Gravel Time Trials Strava Group. (If a Strava segment is created for the course it will not be the official rankings but feel free to do that if you like- someone usually does)

  2. Download the GPX file for the route.  The course will be unmarked, the route must be followed to be eligible for prizes.

  3. On the day of your ride Turn off your Strava or garmin auto pause. Ride the route as fast as you choose to ride! Aero bars are allowed.  Name the ride “Turbo Gravel Time Trial,”

  4. Email (IMPORTANT) a screenshot of the ride to turbogravel@gmail.com letting us know the category you intend to race and a picture or screenshot of a receipt for $25 to any organization or charity or small / local business of your choice. Your screen shot will be your official time.

  5. Race must be completed on your own to be eligible for prizes. However, if you’re riding with a partner or small pod. You will receive a small something in the mail for completing the route.

  6. Categories include: Open Male, Open Female, SinglespeedMale, Singlespeed Female, Clydesdale (220+ lbs) Male, Party Pace leader aka DFL

  7.  Occasionally Leaderboards will be updated in the StravaGroup and other online forums including FB and IG- follow Joy Machines Racing on IG or Turbo Gravel Time Trail on FB.

  8. Winners will be announced the week of 4/1/2021

We may add in some fun stuff along the way. Or not! Who knows.
Ride safe, have fun, do good!
