Recap: Wildcat Holloween

October 15 — 12 cyclists set out of Crooksville to complete the Wildcat Hollow Ride. The route is 45 miles with about 4k’ feet of climbing. There is a lot of pavement and quite a bit of flatter or gently rolling sections, especially for this area of the state. Thus the pace can be a little quicker than some other OGG routes.

The drop down in to Wildcat Hollow proper is amazing. This area of the Sunday Creek watershed feels like being on a different planet.

The good parts of this route overlap with the San Toy route, only in the reverse direction. I’ve done the San Toy route about a dozen times, and this was my first time riding this section in the reverse direction.

There are no services on this route, so be prepared with all the food and water you need. There are restrooms at the Wildcat Hollow Trail parking lot about half way through the route. An option is to park at the Wildcat Hollow Trail parking lot, then loop up to Crooksville to hit services in that town before making your way back to the car.

The skies were moody and dark. There was a blustery wind out of the north with dark clouds spitting rain on us for the last 90 minutes. I set the video to some eerie Halloween like music to match the seasonal vibe.
