Recap: North Bend Rail Trail Bikepacking 2018

5 cyclists. 100 miles. One spill. Two flats for one person. One burned finger. We saw some turtles, deer and a lot of dogs.

Saturday -
Started in Parkersburg and headed east on NBRT. The western end of the trail traditionally was in pretty good shape, but it looks like most of the trail is overgrown and some sections are down to single track. A brief shower mid ride dropped the temp, but overall a humid day. Stopped at gazebo at North Bend State for lunch. The trail has been redone for the last 8 miles into West Union so it was nice to have what has been a traditionally challenging section way easier at the end of the ride. We setup camp outside the tunnel at a great campsite.

West Union -
West Union is about a mile from the campsite to the east. Dinner in town at the diner was really bad. I haven't had that much salt in my food since visiting Amish country. We picked up snacks at the grocery store and headed back to camp where we had a bonfire.

Sunday - We had breakfast in camp, broke down camp and headed out on the trail. We stopped to refill water once and stopped occasionally to stretch and rest. We shared pepperoni rolls for lunch at the gazebo. Phil flatted about 10 miles from the end and we headed back in the car to a junction point to pump up his tire to get him back to the trailhead.

Great weekend of riding with friends.
