Recap: Kicked in the Globes-Bootlegger 100 Support Ride

51 miles. 7400 ft climbing. I committed to helping with the Bootlegger 100 dirt road ride so I rode from our rented cabin in Blowing Rock. I took the Blue Ridge Parkway from Blowing Rock out to Grandfather Mountain over the Linville Viaduct and down Edgemont Rd to the marshal point. I was passed by the front group of 130 participants as I headed down and I directed riders at the split for a couple of hours before heading to Betsey's Ole Country Store & Cabin Rental for the next rest stop. After some snacks I headed up and over the ridge and then over to Globe Road which ends in Blowing Rock. Globe Road gains 2000 ft in 5 miles. I kinda bonked and was mentally broken when a local asked if I wanted to throw the bike in the back of the truck and get a ride to the top. I declined and it was the longest 1.5 miles of my life. I saw salamanders and saved a turtle. Sunny and clear for most of the day. Sprinkles at the end.
