Perry Chapel Gravel

These routes are based on Headwind Cycling Baitin’ the Shark routes. I was told incorrectly that the event starts on private land and so I developed these starting at a different location. The Perry Chapel Baptist Church is very close to the route and offers ample parking. Of course this is a church so please be courteous and avoid service times. We parked on a Saturday near the cemetery and there wasn’t anyone around.

We picked The ShortFIN route which is 37 miles. It's a short climb from the church lot to join the route and hit gravel. This route is a mix of nice gravel roads, quiet farm roads and climbing. We finished with 3800 feet of climbing. We may have encountered a handful of vehicles over the route. There was some newly graded roads and the climb back to the ridge before the end was freshly graded with new gravel. Lots of Amish are in the area and the requisite farm animals were out and about. Weather was good for the ride and gravel was fast and dusty. The Shark Rock is on all three routes.
