Recap: Somerset 2RBarn Gravel

5 cyclists. 31.2 miles. 3300 feet of elevation gain. Parking is at Lake Saint Joseph or up the hill at St. Josephs Catholic Church parking lot if no church services are taking place. Jump on the route at that spot if you choose to park at the church. Scroll down for two route options.

The Somerset 1RBarn route features the classic round barn that sits right next to the road. Look for the metal horse sculpture along the way!

The Somerset 2RBarn route adds an extra loop on the southern end to add in a second round barn (look to your left at the southern most point) and look for a second metal horse sculpture.

Temps were in low 40’s and we ended in upper 40’s. Gravel was tacky for the most part except for Perry State Forest which was sloppy. Some cool vehicles to see along the way including Power Wagons and vintage VW busses. The 2Barn route featured two round barns, two metal horse sculptures and driveway devil head decorations.

There is a mix of medium climbs with short punchy climbs that add up over the route. Gravel is almost 50% of the roads on both routes.
