Recap: Mt. Homer Gravel 39

6 cyclists. 39.4 miles. 1700+ feet of elevation gain. Parking is at the Homer ballfields next to the Homer Library. We set out to ride the original Mt. Homer Gravel route with 47 miles but decided to explore and maximize gravel for a new route. We ended up cutting off the top NE loop of pavement and reconnected with Wigton which is gravel. We stopped at the Heart of Ohio Trail (HOOT) trailhead in Mt. Liberty for lunch. The trailhead has a picnic table and portajohn. We tweaked the route further by replacing the pavement climb on Simmons Church Rd by taking the trail east and turning right onto Tucker Rd where we climbed gravel to Bishop Rd. We stopped to say hi to Donkey and finished out the same route as the original. This new route increases gravel content to 60%. Route below.
