Recap: Warsaw West Gravel

We couldn’t decide whether this ride should be called “No Drama Llama”, “Just Ducky,” or “Turkey Lurkey” because of the amount of animal encounters.

After the ride stop into Roberta’s for some food before or after the ride and support a local business.

Only a couple miles into the route and the llamas are on the left on a farm. Between mile 9 and 10 is the farm with the ducks that rushed out to see us and swam in the pond. Thanks to Frans for the close up llama shots. We saw a turkey hiding in a culvert later on and there were plenty of farm animals milling about in the fields.

We had five cyclists to explore this route. We ended with 36.5 miles and 3450 feet of climbing. This route is just shy of 70% gravel and you are on gravel within 1.5 miles of the start. Temps hovered in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s depending on tree coverage and sun. Gravel was fast and dry with only one road recently grated. Some new chip and seal on a road out of New Guilford, but I am not familiar with the road so I don’t know if it was a gravel road we lost. No services on route unless you want to go off route and head into Mayor’s Corner. We carried our lunch and stopped midway in the shade.
