Recap: Woodbury Gravel 51

8 cyclists. 48.5 miles. 4900 feet of climbing. We headed out to explore the Woodbury Loop route to check roads and make sure there weren’t any issues. As we headed south we realized the route took us on a gated road, which was open today for hunting dog trials taking place throughout Woodbury Wildlife Area. Mental note, reroute around this road. The rest of the route was a nice mix of gravel and quiet gravel roads through farmland. At mile 21.5 is a carryout for supplies. We stopped for lunch and ate at their picnic tables. Porta-john on premise. Gravel roads were dry except for the occasional mucky spot. The revised route - Woodbury Gravel 51 is below.

The weather was a mixed bag ranging from overcast to sunny and ending with a heavy headwind coming from the north-northwest. Temps were in the low 50’s to low 60’s but the wind made it feel colder. Lots of farm animals hanging out. A few barkers, but no runners.
