Recap: Cambridge Gravel 43

9 cyclists. 43 miles. 5100 feet of climbing.

Thanks to Tim Cristy for mapping this route. (See below)

The Cambridge Gravel 43 route is 80%+ gravel. Parking is available at Cambridge HS and there is plenty of space. Springtime brings gravel road grading and a lot of the roads had a mix of soft gravel, ruts and scatter gravel. One particularly steep downhill ended in loose river rocks which turned out to be a dicy landing. Two gravel climbs included sections in the upper teens (think 18-20%) in gradient. My Garmin Climb Pro showed Dark Red for the top of at least one climb. The bridge crossing at mile 34 is accessible by bicycle even though it says the road is closed.

Lots of farm animals along the way. We only had a few dogs that were interested in our group. We stopped at a township hall for a bathroom break and at the mid point to eat lunch. We regrouped at the top of climbs and intersections.
