Recap: Honey Run Gravel 31

4 cyclists. 30.5 miles. 2900 feet of climbing. Upper 40’s at the start. Temps hit mid 50’s with some sunshine. Headwind was all over the place coming out of the south and the north. Gravel was mostly wet with some sloppy and muddy sections. Still some ice in shady areas. Route is a mix of nice paved country roads and gravel through farmland with a lot of Amish life on show. Roughly 60% gravel.

This route starts at the Honey Run Waterfall parking lot. There are a lot of parking spots, and a trash can and porte-potty are on-site. When we arrived we were alone in the lot but when we got back from the ride the parking lot was full. Only a couple dogs making noise on this route. Lots of farm animals with babies in the fields. One rally car driving FedEx vehicle sliding all over the mud roads. Lunch stop was on the side of the road. We had two mechanicals and found a horseshoe with nails laying in the middle of the road stuck in the mud. After the ride we walked over to the Honey Run Waterfall which was running fast from the recent snow.
