Recap: Escanaba RSF MI Gravel

Quick recap: While vacationing in Michigan I was given the opportunity to explore a route twice that Nick Tepe developed. Photos from both rides are combined. I started at Wells State Park but parking is also available at Cedar Creek State Harbor. The route I explored is a little different than the final route to reduce the riding time on M-35. Miles can be added back by heading south on M-35 to Pit Dr, Harbor Point Dr and then north on Jimtown Rd to reconnect with the route. Or additional mileage can be added by adding OHV trail loops in the forest or adding roads on the north side. Motorists on M-35 were very courteous while passing giving wide berth.

The route heads north into the Escanaba River State Forest (RSF) and passes the grouse hunting areas and numerous OHV trails. I saw wild turkeys, deer, and grouse. Logging operations were active but I only saw one truck while riding. I stopped both days at the Cedar River crossing to eat lunch. An eclectic cabin in the woods was a great photo opportunity. Halfway through the route you crossover the Cedar River and follow it back to M-35. With exception to M-35 this a low traffic route.
