  • 80%+ gravel on route

  • Upper 60’s to low 80’s

  • Sunny all day

  • Headwind anytime we headed northeast

  • Amish in buggies, walking, riding bikes

  • Only a few cars on the route

We parked at the Charm Family Restaurant, 4450 OH-557, Charm, OH 44617, which is closed on Sunday so the parking lot was empty.

Thanks to Tim Bernhard for creating these routes. We chose the 40 mile route, but Tim has created routes from 20 to 60 miles long. Find them here.

There is some pavement at the start and end and to connect gravel roads but there is over 80% gravel on this route.

We saw only a few cars on the ride and saw a lot of Amish life along the way. We saw families walking together, in buggies, playing a pickup baseball game, riding bikes, and gathering for worship at homes along the way. We stopped in the shade to eat lunch.

Weather was perfect! Sunny and low humidity with some headwind. We saw a lot of baby animals including horses, sheep, cows and a whole group of mules hanging out.
