Recap: Newcomerstown Gravel 35

Quick stats

  • Six cyclists

  • 35 miles / 3650 ft climbing

  • Low 30’s to upper 40’s

  • Cloudy to start, sunny at end

  • Headwind toward the end

  • Snowy trees at start

  • Puncture on tubeless tire, spun it, and kept rolling

  • Broken derailleur hampered climbing for one.

  • Flat tire at the end. Pumped it up and limped back to the car

We parked at the Newcomerstown High School, 702 S River St, Newcomerstown, OH 43832. Plenty of parking at the school.

Thanks to Tim Cristy for adapting this route from a longer route. Lots of climbing on this route. The Coshocton/Newcomerstown/Port Washington area is very similar terrain.

The route has estimated 60%+ gravel. First nine miles of the route is paved on some nice country roads. Last three miles are paved back Into town.

Some barkers and runners. A lot of horses and cows in the fields too. We had a couple of deer bound from the woods in front of us.

We had a puncture on a tubeless tire and a spin sealed it up and we kept moving. Derailleur issues on one bike caused some climbing issues. Flat at the end needed a pump up to get back to the cars.
