Recap: New Lex Gravel Grinder

11 cyclists. 9 in the main group, 2 started late. 39 miles. 3100 feet of climbing. Started at the New Lexington Pool, but moved cars to the baseball fields due to graduation ceremonies. Temps started in the upper 60’s and ended in the low to mid 80’s. Pavement temps were 5-10 degrees hotter. Sunny for most of the day. Before the stream crossing the ridge road was closed to motor traffic and recently had ballast rock laid down making for a hike-a-bike section. Stream wasn’t very high so it was an easy crossing. We had lunch in Shawnee at the Marathon. We had a slow leaking tire at the lunch break and we had one person fall over on a gravel climb after spinning out. We encountered only a few dogs and a lot of farm animals were out in the sunshine. Great day on the bike.
