Recap: AEP Lands - Camp K Butterfly Gravel Grinder

ROUTE UPDATE: all gated roads in AEP Lands are now off limits to bicycle traffic. There are two legal routes in our library that avoid gated roads. Please ride responsibly.

14 cyclists. 29 miles. 1700+ feet of climbing. Temps at the start were in the 50’s and topped 70 by the end. Route was a mix of gravel conditions. There were some sticky mud sections and some rocky climbs, but overall good conditions. We did bypass the steeple chase section and the rail grade section has had maintenance to drain the swamp. Not many animal sightings, but we did see a lot of hunters prepping their dogs for rabbit hunting season. Lots of fishing too on the many lakes. We stopped for lunch and #coffeeoutside at the mid-point on top of a ridge overlooking a pond and pastures. Only one jammed wheel from mud. Great day in the saddle with bike friends.
