Recap: Knockemstiff Gravel Rumble

19 cyclists. 38 miles. 3575+ feet of climbing. Joe Lawhorn put together a route starting at Huntington High School outside of Chillicothe. He also led the faster group that broke off about a 1/3 of the way into the ride. This was a mix of paved and gravel roads and I think we should classify this as a Dirty Road Ride like the 7 Caves Dirty Road Ride in the same area. Sunny at the start and temps in the 50’s quickly getting up to the upper 60’s before becoming overcast at the end. The route had at least three closed roads which were all passable on bike. We saw a number of dogs on the route and several runners. We had one dog run out into our group while the owner stood and held another dog and a stern verbal assault helped push the dog back onto the property. We stopped for lunch at Gibson’s IGA which is a full service convenience store. Good day in the saddle.

UPDATE: As of 1/1/2022 the Knockemstiff gravel route is almost 100% paved and we have removed it from our library.
